Now it is expanding into a new location for the first time, the scene is set for a decadent new narrative. Sited on a westward meander of the Thames, some 15 winding river miles upstream of central London, Richmond has a history and magic all its own. Roaring into the town in a burst of champagne fizz, Scott’s will shake up its new riverside setting with a cocktail of old-world elegance and glamorous destination dining.
Scott’s Richmond, split between two floors, will share the glamorous DNA of its London cousin, owned by restaurateur Richard Caring. In an elegant ground-floor dining room of polished parquet, glinting chandeliers and discreetly blinded windows, a marble-topped champagne and oyster bar takes centre stage. Rising from its centre, a sinuous stone plinth offers up a glittering display of seafood on diamond shards of ice. Smartly waistcoated staff are prepped to weave among sweeping banquettes and flanks of linen-clad tables, bearing silver platters to awaiting guests – at Scott’s the service is as exceptional as the food. A wood-panelled, richly upholstered first-floor bar and restaurant adds another characterful dining space. And the prime al-fresco real estate of the Richmond terrace is sure to capture the imagination of aspirational locals, just as its Mount Street counterpart has.
